FAQ

Questions people ask before sending

Answers to common questions about private file delivery, encrypted sharing, secure links, recipient access, metadata, and plans.

What is private delivery?

It means sending a file package to the right recipient for a specific purpose, without leaving it as an attachment or shared-folder invite forever.

Are stored files readable?

ZipPigeon stores encrypted file chunks and encrypted manifests rather than normal readable file contents.

Are secure links safe?

Secure links are private passes while active. Account sharing is stronger for people you already know.

Which plan is right for me?

Free is for browser-based private delivery with up to 100 MB retained storage. Personal adds 5 GB of retained storage and two concurrent sessions. Pro adds 50 GB, higher-volume transfer counts, ten concurrent sessions, and CLI plus Service API automation.

Frequently asked questions

What is private file delivery?

It is a way to send sensitive files to the right person for a set time. It avoids long-lived copies in email and shared folders.

Is ZipPigeon end-to-end encrypted?

ZipPigeon encrypts file chunks in the browser with XChaCha20-Poly1305 before upload. V3 can also protect account recipients with X-Wing. It combines X25519 with ML-KEM-768. Older transfers stay readable during the move to V3. See the security page for the full limits.

Can ZipPigeon read my files?

During normal delivery, ZipPigeon should not receive plain files or raw file keys. It still needs details such as accounts, recipients, dates, and transfer status.

How is ZipPigeon different from cloud storage?

Cloud storage is for ongoing collaboration. ZipPigeon is for sending a sensitive package to a specific person and closing access when the job is done.

How is ZipPigeon different from email attachments?

Email files can spread through inboxes, backups, and forwards. ZipPigeon adds encryption, an end date, and clear access for each recipient.

Who is ZipPigeon for?

ZipPigeon is for teams that send sensitive files outside their usual workspace. It fits legal, finance, HR, agency, startup, security, and freelance work.

What does the Free plan include?

Free includes 100 MB of retained encrypted transfer storage, up to 20 active transfers, and browser-based sending. A transfer can use the remaining available Free storage, up to 100 MB. It does not include sessions, the CLI, or the Service API.

What does the Personal plan include?

Personal is $10 per month and includes 5 GB of retained encrypted transfer storage, up to 100 active transfers, browser uploads up to 1 GB each, and up to 2 concurrent sessions. Personal is browser-based and does not include the CLI or Service API.

What does the Pro plan include?

Pro is $30 per month and includes 50 GB of retained encrypted transfer storage, up to 1,000 active transfers, browser uploads up to 5 GB each, and up to 10 concurrent sessions. Pro also includes CLI, Service API, and Developer plugin project automation.

Which plans can use the ZipPigeon Developer plugin?

Free, Personal, and Pro can connect it for account and transfer workflows within their plan limits. Only Pro can create CLI project profiles, manage service identities, or use Service API automation.

What happens if I reach a plan limit?

Your existing transfers remain available. Archive or delete transfers to free retained capacity, close sessions, or upgrade when a higher plan expands that quota. Browser uploads use bounded-memory encryption: Free supports 100 MB, Personal 1 GB, and Pro 5 GB per transfer. CLI uploads remain limited to 100 MB, while browser and CLI downloads warn above that memory-reliability threshold.

Send the file. Keep control of the link.

Use ZipPigeon when a file needs to reach the right person without becoming another attachment or shared folder to clean up later.
