Send the file. Keep the key private.

ZipPigeon is a private file sharing app for teams that need a narrower handoff than email attachments or long-lived shared folders. The product focuses on browser encryption, encrypted file sharing, recipient access controls, and expiring files so a sender can deliver a package to the right person without turning every transfer into a permanent workspace.

How ZipPigeon Works

Encrypt in the browser

The sender selects files and the browser prepares the encrypted file transfer before upload. Browser encryption keeps the file contents separate from ordinary server-side storage and transport handling.

Store encrypted file data

ZipPigeon stores encrypted chunks and encrypted manifests. The service still handles accounts, transfer status, expiration, and audit events, but stored file bodies are not treated as readable application data during normal delivery.

Grant recipient access

Access is prepared separately for each delivery path. Known recipients can use account-bound access, while secure links support no account file transfer when a lower-friction handoff is the right fit.

Security Model

Recipient access key

ZipPigeon keeps the encrypted file and the material needed to open it on separate paths. Account shares bind access to recipient key material. Secure links should be treated like private credentials while they are active.

Expiring files

Senders choose an access window for each transfer. When a transfer expires or is archived, ZipPigeon stops future service-mediated access, though already downloaded files cannot be recalled.

Honest metadata boundaries

A secure file transfer service still processes operational metadata such as account details, recipient routing, timestamps, file size, status, and abuse-prevention signals. The security model explains that boundary directly.

When Private File Sharing Helps

External client delivery

Use ZipPigeon when a client, vendor, contractor, investor, or advisor needs one package but does not need a standing seat in your workspace. The sender keeps the secure file transfer focused on the delivery job instead of expanding shared-folder permissions.

Sensitive document handoffs

Private file sharing is useful for contracts, reports, finance exports, HR paperwork, legal packets, security evidence, and other files where forwarding, old downloads, or broad cloud links would create more exposure than the task requires.

Clearer access cleanup

Encrypted file sharing should have an obvious ending. ZipPigeon supports transfer expiration, archive-based cleanup, and separate account or link access so teams can review what remains available after the file has been delivered.

Private File Sharing FAQ

What is ZipPigeon?

ZipPigeon is a private file sharing app for sending encrypted file transfers to specific recipients without relying on email attachments or permanent shared folders.

How does ZipPigeon protect files?

ZipPigeon uses browser encryption before upload. The service stores encrypted file data and coordinates delivery, expiration, and recipient access.

Are files encrypted before upload?

Yes. The browser prepares the encrypted file sharing package before upload, so stored file data is encrypted during normal delivery.

Who can access a shared file?

A shared file can be opened by a recipient with the required account-bound access or by someone with the full active secure link and recipient access key material.

Do recipients need an account?

Known recipients can use account-bound sharing. ZipPigeon also supports no account file transfer through secure links when lower-friction delivery is needed.

Can shared files expire?

Yes. Senders choose an access window, and expiring files stop being available through ZipPigeon after the transfer or link expires.
